OOC: Before venturing into Hogwarts Secrets as a student, please be sure to read the Rules, Plot, and other information in from the Hogwarts Secrets threads to familiarize yourself with the game rules and history. Remember, you are responsible for knowing and following the rules, ignorance of them is not an excuse for not following them. And remember we are currently 56 years AFTER the downfall Voldemort, so chances are your parents were NOT death eaters unless they were over 60 when your character was born. Also, if you want your character to have any special abilities (including but not limited to werewolf, vampire, animagus, parslemouth, etc) they need to be cleared with the Administration first ((note either me or Kasey). Thanks and welcome to the game!
The students assembled in the Great Hall as they did every year, upper classmen segregated at their house tables and talking amongst themselves as they awaited the song of the Sorting Hat and the beginning of the Sorting Ceremony. The seats at the end of the tables closest to the staff table remained empty, as they awaited their new members.
The Headmaster, Grigor Caldwalader, strode through the open doors to the Great Hall. In general the talking died to whispers as his presence was noticed, although uncharacteristically the most respect seemed to emanate from the Slytherin’s table. Caldwalader smirked in understanding as Slytherin had been his house, not only had he been in Slytherin when he attended Hogwarts, but he had been the Head of Slytherin House the previous year.
He took his place behind a podium at the front of the room. The house tables stretched out before him, and the staff table behind him. It was still an odd feeling for him standing there. His being Headmaster had not been a thought he had ever entertained, but when the opportunity was afforded him, he accepted it readily.
He watched as the first years were lead into the room and paraded down the center aisle. He scanned each face, taking in the reaction of each to their surroundings. As they lined up before him, he raised a hand to silence the older students. As always, the Sorting Hat broke into song on cue, startling some of the first years.
The last notes of the Sorting Hat’s song fade away and Headmaster Caldwalder picks up a scroll from the podium and calls the first of the new students forward to be sorted…..

Character History: Vincent Goulding lives in Cardiff, Wales with his Mother, Father, Grandmother, and Sister. He has lived in a big family all his life, since the day he was born his great grandparents, and grandparents had lived with them. His great grandparents were a supporter of the Dark Arts and the Dark Lord. They both died before they could tell them anything about it. It’s a little ‘family secret’ as only his Father, and Grandmother know but won’t say a word about it to the family. Vincent has been vocal about his feeling towards muggles and half bloods as his family often feels the same way. Vincent has terrible temper, he would often get in trouble at home for punching a whole in the wall if something got him angry. As he grew older he has learned to control him temper. His traits that stand out are brutal honesty, sarcasm, he read people very well. He has to ‘observe’ people before he can talk or even trust them.

RP Sample: Vincent took a deep breath as he entered the Great Hall. His parents, and grandmother had told him every thing he saw but it was nothing how he pictured it. His mind drifted about what house he might be in. A boy he over heard talking was saying how Gryffindor was the family house and he’d probably be disowned if he got into Slytherin. He just realized his parents had never told about what houses they been in. His sister went a smaller school for girls at her own choice so she has no good at telling him what house was the ‘family house’ He suddently snapped back into reality when he heard his name being called. His eyes got wider, he was now very nervous. He walked to stool very slowly, when he sat down he saw all the faces looking towards him waiting..

Character History: Nathan's parents, Keith and Vanessa, are both dead. They had once been famous authors that believed in preserving peace in the magical world. They were killed by Nate's Uncle Frank, who hated everything about his brother and sister-in-law. He hated their beliefs, and he hated the fact that Keith had gone against their parent's teachings. But what he hated most of all was Vanessa.... Who had been a 'MudBlood'. Nathan was two years old at the time, to young to remember them and to young to form his own opinion on the matter. So, all he has ever known was his Uncle Frank, who took him in as a son. When Nate was old enough to understand, his Uncle told him what really happened to his parents. He told him everything, aside from the fact that his mother was muggle born. Nathan believes to this day that he is a pureblood, which is what he grew up believing.
Nat and his Uncle Frank reside in England, where they live with Jaclyn and Reeve (Nate's Cousins), and a herd of therstals. Nathan is the youngest in the family, but defiantly has the most ambition. He is home schooled by his uncle, but has spent some of his time with muggles. He believes them to be nothing more than talking creatures. Nathan is a well rounded, mature boy. He may be a bit arrogant, but hey, that's just him.
Favorite Color(s): Hunter Green and Dark Blue. Red isn't bad either.

RP Sample: Nathan challenged Reeve to another game of Quidditch before leaving. He won, but only by a little. Reeve shook his hand, "Good luck brother, Hogwarts is great. Lots of girls." He said, winking at Nate. Jaclyn stood by the door, arms crossed, "Bye Nathan." She said, watching her cousin. Nate smiled, "I know you'll miss me." She rolled her eyes, but hugged him. "I know I will." Nathan grabbed his suitcase and his owl and waved goodbye to the two. They were both older, but he would miss their company nonetheless.
"Goodbye, Do well." Frank said, exchanging a goodbye before departing. Nathan shook his hand, then jumped onto the train. He sat alone, practicing different curses. Groups of people walked by, all happy and anxious. Nate was content and calm, wary of his new classmates. He wasn't used to talking with people around his age. The train finally stopped, and soon they were all in Hogwarts.
Nathan stood in the Great Hall quietly, annoyed by a cult of people who were most likely to be sorted into Hufflepuffs. He watched the different houses closely, wondering which one he would most fit into. Nat rubbed the back of his neck as his name was called, and walked confidently up to the stool. "Hmm.. Tough one.." He heard the Sorting Hat grumble, "You belong in...."

Character History: Blair lives a pretty simple life in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia with her two parents, three dogs, and two older brothers. Her Father, Nixon Morgan works as an animal activist and her Mother, Clara Morgan works at the University of Sydney. Nixon is a muggle and Clara is a wizard. Her two older twin brothers, Jackson and Henry are squibs. They taught her the use of sarcasm, and how to be a bit tomboyish.
She has a pretty tough exterior and loves to have fun. Blair has a brave soul and is willing to take on challenges and new adventures.

RP Sample: Blair rode on the train silently, reading a marvel comic book her brother gave her to read. It was hardly amusing. She leaned back and fell asleep, only to be awaken by some tall man, "Wake up kid," He said, shaking her a bit. Blair looked around and realized that the train was empty. She hadn't even put on her robes yet. Crap.
She changed quickly, almost tripping out of the train as she tried to keep up with the group. Just my luck, she thought. Blair was amazed as they entered the Great Hall. She had read about it in a book her mother had given her, but the description hadn't given it justice. Blair looked at the stool, where kids were already being sorted. She watched as some mysterious looking kid got sorted into Slytherin, rolling her eyes. Blair was sarcastic, but she didn't want to end up in that house.
'Morgan, Blair!' The sorting hat called. She sighed, glancing around. This was going to be fun. Blair walked up and sat on the stool, and someone placed the hat onto her head. 'Hmmm.. You belong in..'

Ryan has lived his life as an only child in a small house in Paris, France. His father is a fashion designer for an international clothing chain, and his mother works as an art teacher in a school just outside the city. He has been alienated by most of the students in his muggle school for his taste in clothing and, more importantly, his intelligence. Though he tries not to, Ryan has a way of making people around him feel stupid. Unfortunately, Ryan was often bullied for his exceptional intellect.
At a fairly early age, Ryan showed subtle signs of wizarding ability. While Ryan's father was away on business (which was quite often) his mother taught him simple spells. Ryan's mother didn't want to upset her muggle-husband with talk of magic. Ryan's father was oblivious until Ryan's letter for Hogwarts came in the mail. After some awkward discussion, the family agreed that Ryan would excell in Hogwarts.

Ryan looked curiously at the castle from the boat. There was a mix of excited and nervous conversation around him, but he wasn't paying attention. He was lost in his own thoughts about what classes he was going to take, how difficult they were going to be, and what house he was going to be in. He had overheard bits of conversation about the different houses, but the sources they were coming from didn't seem particularly reliable.
He looked around the great hall at the other students. They seemed welcoming enough, but there was an odd feeling coming from the table with the students dressed in robes with green emblems. He wasn't sure he wanted to be a part of that...
His thoughts were interrupted by the Headmaster and a singing hat. It was an interesting song, but it was also a creepy hat singing it. He unconciously stepped back.
After the hat stopped singing, names were called to go and have the hat set on their head. The hat called out the different Houses, Ryan guessed. Eventually, Ryan's name was called. He walked up to the stool and nervously sat down, crossing his legs at the ankles. The hat was set on his head. The hat shifted slightly, grumbled something unintelligible and called out...

Character History: Born in South America to a local woman and a travelling Irishman, Jasper spent most of his youth travelling the world with his father and younger sister. When he was nine, Jasper was building a tree house in the family’s back yard when the partially completed construction collapsed on top of him, leaving him with the ugly scar down his arm.
When he was ten, his sister just seven, they visited England, where his mother now lived. Jasper and his sister stayed with her while their father continued his travels.
Five months later, Jaspers father was lost when the plane he was flying in disappeared over the Bermuda triangle. Jasper was sent to Hogwarts to nourish his education.

RP Sample: Jasper stood with the rest of the First Years, waiting to cross the Lake to reach Hogwarts for the first time. His breathing was shallow in the harsh cold winds and Jasper hoped he wouldn't have an asthma attack on his first day. He looked around, surveying his fellows. Some were whispering to others, quick introductions. Jasper stood alone. The others probably thought he was crazy - what with his eyeshadow and hair. Jasper looked down at the ground, waiting. People always thought he was the strong, silent type - even at eleven. Jasper never had the heart to tell them he was quiet because he didn't know what to say - Jasper was extremely shy.
The boats arrived and, when instructed, Jasper stepped carefully into one with three other students, all who were talking amongst themselves. Jasper sat silently at the back of the boat and only spoke when asked his name. After a time, the First Years arrived at the castle and were quickly taken inside - the dark sky looked extremely ominous. Jasper tagged along at the end of the group.
Once inside the Great Hall, Jasper joined the rest of the First Years and waited while an elderly looking witch brought forth a freyed hat. Jasper's mother had told him that the Sorting Hat would begin by singing a song, and sure enough a gap in the brim opened and the hat began to sing. Jasper watched as, one by one, the First Years were Sorted. He waited nervously and was horrified when it becam apparent that he would be the last to try on the hat.
When his turn came, Jasper hurried up the steps and shoved the hat on his head, preying that it would be over with quickly. He waited with bated breath while the Hat muttered things to him. Jasper adjusted the hat on his head so he could see and looked around the Great Hall while he waited for the Sorting Hat's decision. He wished he hadn't looked - every single person in the Hall was looking at him. Jasper felt sick and looked down at his knees just as the Sorting Hat cried...

Character History: Alyson was born in America and lived in the states with her British father, American mother and younger brother, Andrew. Alyson was 'born tough' her father always said. She always was ready to defend what she believed. But, Alyson was overall sweet and generous. She was simply a shy girl, who enjoyed her family life very much.
Things went down hill around the time Alyson received her letter to hogwarts. The moment Alyson was accepted there she was hesitant, but this was the first tendril to tear down her faimly. After this letter, the secret that her father had been hiding- the fact that he was in fact a wizard, came out and Alyson was aware how strained her parents relationship had become. She was annoyed by it really.
No matter how fasinating the idea was, she wasn't sure she wanted to be a witch. Alyson and her family were getting ready to move back to london, where her fathers sister (her aunt, Paige) lived. They were going to stay with Paige until they got their own house... but, the day before the official move, something terrible happened.
Alyson was going to miss her american friends, and then night before she was to leave, she snuck out to hang with her friends one last time- Alyson would never guess the horrible things that had happend in her absence. Someone had broken into the house to steal the left behind items, thinking that the family had in-fact left that day, but freaked when the intruder ran into the people and had fired off their gun in fear and ran.
Alyson moved to live with Paige, but still she is very quiet. Now, for a different reason. Alyson is full of anger, and, she intends to use to magic so that by the time she gradguates she will be able to kill the one who murdered her family, and, maybe even take revenge on many of the stupid non-magical people. Alyson was ready to use her abilities to the best of their use.

Alyson leaned her head against the cold window on the train. She let her eyes drift hazily out at the landmarks as they speed by. She was quick to find her own compartment, and locked the door as to make sure no one else would bother her. The time was ebbing away and shortly she would arrive at her new school. The school that would teach her the things she needed to get revenge. Enslavement of the human race... sounded nice to her. She look down at the wand in her hand and a grim smile turned on her red lips. Soon...
Alyson crept off the train amongst the last few kids and shuffled along behind. She listened to all the names being read aloud as others were placed in their houses. She looked at the tables, smirking at some kid who nearly tripped on their way to the Hufflepuff table. "Moron." Alyson mummbled with a slight shake of her head. She looked around and decided that the only real acceptably placement would be slytherin... perhaps Gryffindor. But Alyson had her fingers crossed for the house of the serpant.
